Raw (7/10) & Smackdown (7/7) Previews; AP Picks Up On RVD / Sabu Arrests

The Associated Press has picked up on the recent arrrests of WWE / ECW Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam and Sabu. The AP article provides the same information already posted here and on other wrestling news sites. The one update we have no confirmed is that RVD & Sabu's court appearance scheduled for Thursday has been postponed. It will likely be rescheduled within the next 2 weeks.

Rated R celebration?

The WWE Championship is back on RAW. After pinning ECW’s Rob Van Dam—even though it was John Cena who hit RVD with an FU—what type of celebration will new WWE Champion Edge throw on the final RAW before Saturday Night’s Main Event? The last time Edge won the WWE Championship he threw a live sex celebration to ring in his reign as Champion. Does the Rated R Superstar have another X-Rated party planned?

And how will John Cena react to having the Championship stolen from him? We know Cena isn’t above taking drastic measures to make a point, as he’s shown up alone at ECW ready to take on their entire locker room looking for an opportunity to reclaim what he considers his WWE Championship. Now that Cena’s come within inches of reclaiming what he considers his, what will the Dr. of Thuganomics do to retaliate?

Plus, Mr. McMahon has to be reeling after D-Generation X seized control of the WWE production truck, wrecking havoc on nearly every aspect of RAW. After banning DX from entering the arena backfired last week, HBK and The Game ruined another Monday night for the Chairman without even stepping foot inside the building. What else can Mr. McMahon do to gain control of his company? Is there anything he can do to punish the duo that has made it a point to defy every order he’s given?

What will this mean for RAW? What will this mean for Saturday Night’s Main Event? Monday Night RAW is the only place it will all be revealed. Watch RAW on Monday at 9/8 CT on the USA network.

The Animal returns

There will certainly be no brotherly love when WWE storms into Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center for Friday Night SmackDown.

The biggest story—and perhaps one of the most anticipated and talked about stories of the year—is the return of Batista. It’s been six months since WWE fans have seen The Animal in the ring, which has left many people wondering how he’ll address the situation involving the Championship he was forced to vacate. Will Batista still be the force he once was, or has injury tamed the beast?

But Batista's return isn't the only huge story for SmackDown. A Battle Royal will be held to determine the No. 1 Contender for Rey Mysterio's World Championship for The Great American Bash. Who will be the next Superstar to try and bring Mysterio's amazing dream ride as Champion to an end? We will find out Friday night.

Also, Mark Henry was out for blood last week, decimating the Guerrero family name and even going as far as saying he’d spit in the face of Chavo Guerrero’s late Uncle Eddie for Chavo’s interference in Henry’s match with World Champion Rey Mysterio. After unleashing a ferocious beating on Chavo’s, Rey tore down the ramp to come to his friend’s aide. Unfortunately, Mysterio was met with the same fierce attack as Chavo, and looked to be knocked out as “The World’s Strongest Man” left the ring. What kind of shape will the Champion and Chavo be in this week after suffering such a vicious beating?

The Great Khali continued to wreak havoc on SmackDown, rolling Gunner Scott into a body bag, mocking Undertaker. Then, through his manager Daivari, Khali issued the Deadman a challenge in a Punjabi Prison Match—a first of its kind in WWE—to take place at The Great American Bash. Will the Deadman break his silence and respond to the challenger, or is Undertaker as afraid of the 420-pound giant as Daivari insists?

Friday night on UPN at 8/7 CT is the only place to see this week’s must-see Friday Night SmackDown.
