WWE RAW Opener: The February 26, 2007 edition of Monday Night RAW comes to us live from Fresno State University. It follows a show that saw Edge qualify for the next Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania (CM Punk and King Booker followed later in the week). Vince McMahon announced that Umaga would be his charge in the Hair vs. Hair match set for WrestleMania with Donald Trump. Umaga also won the Intercontinental Championship from Jeff Hardy. In the arena: Shawn Michaels and John Cena make their way to the ring ready to defend their World Tag Team Titles. Edge and Orton get on the Titantron, saying they aren't ready to compete, but they'll be ready later. Orton says Michaels was robbed, since he is the Best Actor. They mention how Michaels said he had Cena's back until WrestleMania. Orton warns Cena to watch his back, because HBK is a liar. He and Edge have a Shawn Michaels retrospective on Michaels and his 'friends'. On January 11, 1992, Michaels superkicked Marty Jannetty and put him through the Barber Shop window to end The Rockers. In November of 1994, he hit Diesel with Sweet Chin Music, and claimed Diesel was a zero without him. In November of 1998, Sheriff Shawn Michaels betrayed X Pac and DX. In 2002, he kicked Booker T out of the ill fated nWo retread. On July 4, 2005, Michaels blind sided Hulk Hogan after they had won a tag team match. Edge calls Michaels a liar. He says 'having your back' and 'stabbing you in the back' are two different things. The bait and switch segment ends with Cena and Michaels staring at each other. Money In The Bank Qualifying Match The start: enjamin starts with a side headlock takedown, then a fireman's carry, going for some early pins. Benjamin kicks and punches Hardy. Hardy counters a back body drop and gets a leg drop to the groin for two. Hardy kicks Shelton in the corner. Snapmare and dropkick by Hardy get two. Benjamin knees Hardy in the stomach and punches him on the mat for two. Shelton with a chinlock. Hardy fights out and hits a mule kick. Both men go to the floor. Mid-match notes: Hardy runs the rail and takes Shelton down with a flying clothesline. Benjamin blocks a charge with a reverse elbow, but falls prey to Whisper in the Wind. Hardy goes to the top, but Shelton meets him by leaping right to the top turnbuckle and throwing Hardy off. Commercial. Back from the break, Shelton has the bodyscissors locked in with a sleeper hold on the mat. Hardy tries to fight back, but Benjamin back body drops him for two. Benjamin puts Hardy on his shoulder before tossing him back again. Shelton applies another chinlock. Hardy counters with a jawbreaker. Hardy with clotheslines and a flying neckbreaker. The Finish: Hardy goes to toss Shelton out, but Shelton lands on the apron. Shelton goes for a springboard, but slips off the top and Hardy covers him for two. Shelton misses a Stinger Splash and Hardy gives him the Twist of Fate. Hardy goes to the top and connects with a Swanton Bomb for the win and a spot in MITB with Edge, Booker, and Punk. Winner - Jeff Hardy The Aftermath: Hardy is celebrating on the ramp when McMahon comes on the Titantron, reminding everyone that his man Umaga beat Hardy last week. He segues into how everyone is waiting for the Trump announcement. Vince shows some pictures from last week's opening segments. Vince has two words...before (points to his hair) and after (points to a picture of bald Donald). Backstage: Shill for Ashley in Playboy. After the feature, Melina is upset that more attention isn't on her. She mentions that Mickie has made a rematch for next week, and it is Falls Count Anywhere, and that she has a match with Maria tonight. Nitro, finally fed up, yells SHUT UP to Melina, saying he lost his MITB match and is now out of WrestleMania. His music starts to play and he walks off saying he doesn't have time for this. Referee: Marty Elias Nitro prevents Super Crazy from entering the ring and starts to pound on him. Nitro with a European Uppercut. He throws Crazy into the ring steps. Nitro with a facebuster on the floor. He then walks off. The bell was never rung to officially start the match. Nitro pauses on the ramp and smiles at his handy work as the crowd yells 'You suck'. The result is a no contest since the match never started. Winner - No Contest Slam of the Week: Slam of the Week is Melina defeating Mickie James for the Women's Championship. Non Title Match The start: Melina pulls down Maria by the hair and starts to punch her on the mat. Maria counters into a roll up. They brawl on the mat. Maria misses a dropkick and Melina talks trash. Melina throws Maria into the corner and chokes her with the boot. Melina ties her up in the ropes and applies a submission. She covers for two. The Finish: Melina tosses Maria to the mat, then makes her humble with a Camel Clutch. Maria counters out and blocks a charge in the corner. Maria tosses Melina around and throws her in the corner. Maria hits a bulldog for two. Maria gets a charging clothesline in the corner, but a Bronco Buster is blocked by Melina. Melina rolls up Maria for three. Winner, the Women's Champion, Melina In the arena: Vince McMahon shows off the barber chair on the stage and comes to the ring. Vince reminds everyone that the Battle of the Billionaires is each man picks a representative and the hair of the losing billionaire will be removed. He also threatens Donald with a Billionaire Bitch Slap. He wants to know who it is, but before we find that out, we know who it wasn't. Vince shows Umaga squashing Rey Mysterio. Vince brings out Umaga, with his manager Armando Alejandro Estrada. Donald Trump appears on the Titantron, admitting he is impressed by Umaga. However, he is an animal, and you have to tame them. The only way Donald knows how to tame an animal is to find someone superior and he introduces the worst kept secret in wrestling, the ECW Champion, Bobby Lashley. Bobby Lashley is there live and comes to the ring. The announcers put over Lashley as a man without fear. Lashley climbs in the ring as Vince demands security. A bunch of refs and security come out to keep the two apart. Umaga gets a cheap shot and Lashley tries to fight back, but too many men get between them. The two are pulled apart but brawl some more. Lashley sends Umaga to the floor and they brawl around the ring. The hot crowd is into Lashley and he's getting some good pops. Lashley is knocked down behind the announcer's table. He leaps off the apron and goes for Umaga again as they continue to brawl. Commercial. Effective segment.In the arena: Chris Masters is already in the ring, and The Great Khali comes out, apparently accepting the challenge. Khali sits down and shows off his wingspan. Masters has trouble getting the grip on and backs off. Khali stands up and growls when Kane's music plays. Kane comes out and chokeslams Masters. He punches Khali, hits a big boot, then clotheslines him from the ring. Masters gets back up, but Kane puts him back down with a chairshot. He and Khali then stare at each other. Backstage: Vince and Coachman are in the back fuming when Vince takes a call. He doesn't like the idea on the other end, but it is being presented to the "Board of Directors". The mysterious member of the board thinks the match needs a guest referee. Coach thinks that is unfair, but Vince is unsure. Either way, he vows to not end up as a bald headed freak, then sends Coach to get him some water. Hall of Fame: Lillian Garcia introduces the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame. It is none other than Jerry 'the King' Lawler. He's obviously one of the great color commentators of all time, but the package highlights his incredible work in Memphis, including the legendary feud with Andy Kaufman. King won the AWA Championship in 1988. Backstage: Orton and Edge talk strategy in the back as we get a replay of the opening segment that planted a seed of doubt in Cena about his partner. Referee: Marty Elias The start: The match started during the break when Kenny called Carlito Ric Flair's flunky. Carlito hits a dropkick and punches Dykstra in the corner. He throws Kenny's head into the turnbuckle. Carlito with a scoop slam and springboard twisting senton for two. Carlito and Kenny brawl in the corner. Kenny with a thumb to the eye and he chokes Carlito. Carlito punches back. Carlito with a Cool Shot for two. He misses a springboard crossbody and spills to the floor. Mid-match notes: Kenny follows and charges Carlito into the apron, damaging the ribs. Kenny gets two back in the ring. Carlito chops Kenny, who kicks, and then charges Carlito in the corner for two. Kenny gets two with a gordbuster, then applies an abdominal stretch on the mat. Carlito tries to punch back, but Kenny counters a charge with a knee to the gut. Kenny stomps Carlito for two. Another abdominal stretch by Kenny, continuing to work the rib cage over. Kenny knees Carlito in the ribs and reapplies the hold. Carlito clotheslines and elbows Kenny. The Finish: Carlito with a knee lift and clothesline. Springboard reverse elbow by Carlito gets two. Carlito gets a single leg takedown and punches Carlito. Kenny blocks a rana and hits a sitout powerbomb for two. Carlito ducks a charge in the corner and Kenny crotches himself on the second rope. Carlito finishes the match with a Backcracker. Winner - Carlito The Aftermath: On the stage, Ric Flair applauds Carlito's victory. Backstage: Coach has packed Vince's bags. Vince mentions he's going to San Jose, where he will appear live on ECW to make Lashley's life a living hell. World Tag Team Championship Match The start: Michaels and Edge start. Michaels with a headlock into hammerlock. Edge elbows out. Michaels chops him. HBK gets a wristlock. Edge punches out and hits a scoop slam. Orton tags in, but misses a knee drop. Cena tags and, and the crowd pops huge. Cena punches Orton in the corner, then gets two with a Perfect Plex. Orton blocks the back body drop attempt and dropkicks Cena in the back. He drags him back to the corner and tags Edge in. Edge stomps Cena on the mat and punches him as he gets up. Cena is choked in the corner. Mid-match notes: Edge kicks a field goal and exclaims that it is good. Edge knocks down Cena with a forearm, then kicks him. Orton tags in and gets a European Uppercut. He punches Cena on the mat. Cena and Orton trade rights. Orton gets the better of it and takes Cena down with forearms to the back. Orton chokes Cena then tags Edge in. Edge continues hitting the back, then tags Orton. Orton misses a charge in the corner and Cena hits a bulldog. Michaels tags in and hits a flying forearm. He follows with an inverted atomic drop, then a scoop slam. Michaels connects with the flying elbow and gives Edge an inverted atomic drop. Cena gets in the ring and throws Edge out. HBK tunes up the band. Orton ducks out of the way, and Cena catches Michaels when he goes for Sweet Chin Music. They stare at each other as we go to commercial. It should be noted that the crowd has been hot all night long, and is really into this match. During the stare down and the break, Orton and Edge fought back. Edge forearms Michaels down and works the back. Michaels fights out and chops Edge, but falls to a Edge-O-Matic for two. Orton tags in and hits some Garvin/Orton stomps. He knees Michaels in the back for two. Orton applies a headlock on the mat. Michaels shoulders are down on the mat for a couple of two counts. HBK fights out of the hold and punches back. Orton takes him back down with a stretch backbreaker for two. Edge tags in and gets a Million Dollar Dream. HBK crotches him on the top rope to escape. Orton and Cena tag in. Cena cleans house. Blue Thunder Driver to Orton and he hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Cena goes for the FU, but Edge helps to block it, and knocks the ref down in the process. The Finish: Cena and Edge brawl in one corner, Michaels and Orton in another. Michaels accidentally throws Orton into Cena. Edge goes for a spear, but Cena catches him. Edge blocks the FU. HBK comes back in and hits Edge in the back with the Tag Team belt. He hands it to Orton to make it look like Randy did it. Edge walks out. Michaels superkicks Orton, then Cena delivers the FU for the win. Winners and still World Tag Team Champions, Shawn Michaels and John Cena The Aftermath: Michaels and Cena have a bit of a showdown over the WWE Championship.
