Atlanta GA Police: Deaths Of Benoit Family Not Caused By Firearm, Investigated As A Homicide
Below is a brief update from our initial story posted only hours ago that Chris Benoit, wife Nancy, and son Daniel were found dead earlier today.
I find myself awfully numb typing this. With sadness, we have to report the unfortunate news that Chris Benot (40), wife Nancy (43), and son Daniel (7) were found dead in their Atlanta home. Chris' other two children were in and are still in Canada at the time of their passing.
The only news coming from Georgia Police, is that the 'family was not shot to death'. I know that statement sounds cold. But it does rule out one speculation that is running rampant surrounding their deaths. However, Authorities in Atlanta GA are investigating the three deaths as 'homicides'. Lt Pope handling the investigation reports that there were 'no signs of gunshot wounds or stabbings'. However they are not ruling out other causes, such as poisoning, suffocation, or strangulation. More details will be available Tuesday. As soon as we receive the news, we will report it on the website and hotline.
Tonight WWE will air a three hour tribute to the life of Chris Benoit. Raw, Smackdown, and ECW stars as well as several legends will be onhand. The live event itself scheduled in Corpus Christi, Texas has been cancelled.
And yes Vince McMahon will appear and pay respect to the life of Chris Benoit. And I can assure you, there wont be one person at all in and out of wrestling that would have a problem with it.
