FROM THE INSIDE - by Jeremy Borash
Greetings and welcome to another edition of From the Inside with Jeremy Borash. Lots of news to get to this week… so let’s do the damn thing.
The AJ Styles / D-Lo Brown best of three match certainly provided several additions to our 2003 highlight reel, with D-Lo’s frogsplash from the top of the ladder through the table being a last minute add to the upcoming TNA TV commercials you will be seeing all over the country. The move was spectacular.
Not so spectacular was how it left AJ Styles. Styles says the last thing he remembers from the match is seeing D-Lo’s 268 pound frame coming down on him. Styles was knocked out for what he figures was 20-30 seconds immediately following the move. Trinity brought him to, and she said he had no idea where he was. If you go back and look at the footage, there is an incredible shot of AJ lying across the table where he is looking straight up and looks to be dead. That was the period where he was knocked out.
Thankfully, both men were feeling as well as could have been expected following the show, and hats off to both men for putting on big time feeling NWA World Title Match.
Mad Mikey had a strong debut his past Wednesday night. This Wednesday night we should have a better idea of what he is so mad about. Contrary to what one observer noted, Mikey is not going to be mad at his former employer. In fact in talking to him after the show, getting his release seemed to be the one thing he was happy about. He said the difference between the two working environments were night and day. Will we find out what he is so mad about this Wednesday night?
A major toy manufacturer’s representatives were present at our show Wednesday night, and were very impressed with the product.
Our condolences go out to the family of the late Bob Hope. Hope lived to be 100 years old, which is amazing. My great great aunt lived to be 109, although with a little makeup they said she could easily pass for 106.
Bill Bank’s first assignment was to produce the 3 Live Krew’s “B Jizzle Goes to the Hood” segment that aired last Wednesday night. Banks, who comes to us from CT., was scared to death, as they ventured deep into the hood. One of the things that did not make it on the segment was when they were confronted by area’s kingpin, who let them know whose turf they were on by exposing a pistol sticking out of his pants. This guy was definitely an OG, as Banks nearly sh*t himself. Luckily, he recognized BG James, and all was well from there.
iN-Demand Pay Per View will be offering a TNA PPV in September for just one penny. Check NWATNA.com for an official announcement soon.
Shark Boy masks will be available this Wednesday night at the Asylum, and very soon on NWATNA.com. Sharky will be running his first show under the Buckeye Championship Wrestling banner this Friday night in Middletown, Ohio. Go to Sharkboy.net for more details.
Due to our tremendous increase in numbers with our Latino audience, TNA is now doing versions of all our commercials and preview shows in Spanish, done by our Spanish announce team of Armando Quintero and Konnan.
Things are still on track for TNA to have a video game deal in place very soon. More on this as it develops.
Jeff Jarrett, Don Harris and yours truly were on our way to a show in Birmingham last Saturday night, when our limo blew a tire in the middle of BFE somewhere near the Alabama border. While we were all outside trying to help the driver fix the tire, out of nowhere Bob Ryder and several of the USA Championship Wrestling performers pulled up alongside us and got out. That was unexpected. It turns out they were on their way to a show in Muscle Shoals and saw us on the side of the road. Don Harris made the claim that there were too many chefs in the kitchen trying to help, so he said he was going to wait in Bob Ryder’s air conditioned car until the tire was changed. After nearly 45 minutes, we were ready to get back on the road. However, Don Harris was going to pay for his abandonment, so Jarrett and I told the driver to speed off before Harris could get back in, leaving him stranded on the freeway. The look on his face when we pulled off was priceless. Bob Ryder gave him a ride to a gas station down the road and we let him back in.
