Jerry Lawler Charged With Assault; Smackdown Preview; 6/11/07 Raw Cable Rank

Fox 13 reports the following story that Jerry Lawler has been charged with Assault. The incident occurred over the weekend at an indy event in Tunica MS, when Lawler assaulted promoter Sal Corrente. Here's the article:

Mid-South wrestling icon Jerry Lawler is facing misdemeanor charges after an incident Friday night at Sam's Town Casino.

According to the Larry Lidell, the county's spokesman, wrestling promoter Sal "The Big Cheese" Corrente alleges that Lawler hit several times in the face.

Lidell said Lawler is being charged with a misdemeanor and a warrant will be issued for his arrest.

However, Tunica's policy prohibits from crossing stateliness to apprehend a suspect or serve them with a warrant. Lawler will be served with the warrant if he returns to Tunica.

He has an August 1 court date in Tunica, but that date will be moved if he doesn't receive the warrant before then.

Should he not get served before that, the court date will get rolled over until he does.

Lawler has not yet turned himself in.

Amongst the top rated shows on basic cable last week, the 6/11/2007 edition of Raw was ranked #1 for hour three, #2 for hour two, and #6 for hour one.

Here is your updated preview for Friday's edition of WWE Smackdown:

For the first time since the WWE Draft, Batista teams up with Ric Flair on SmackDown to take on their respective Vengeance: Night of Champions opponents, Edge and MVP. United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter is as confident as ever going into Sunday night while World Heavyweight Champion Edge plans on making this the third straight pay-per-view where he successfully defends his title against Batista. The challengers, however, have other plans. Can they make a statement two nights before the Night of Champions? Wait till you see exactly how the tag team match gets made.

Also, when SmackDown kicks off with The Cutting Edge, the host has some wild accusations on the explosion of Mr. McMahon's limo. What exactly will the controversial Rated-R Superstar have to say? How will his Cutting Edge "testimony" affect the investigation of Mr. McMahon's presumed demise?

Speaking of which, rumors are abound that lead investigator Daniel Beck plans on making an announcement regarding the case of Mr. McMahon’s limo explosion. Is it a new lead? Perhaps new evidence? Has he solved the mystery behind who really planned the event? Has somebody been charged?

Finally, what impact will the WWE.com Supplemental Draft have on the landscape of SmackDown? After receiving Flair, The Great Khali, Chris Masters and Torrie Wilson in the Draft on Raw, Friday nights have gained Kenny Dykstra, Eugene, Victoria and more. What role will these new faces play?

Tune in Friday at 8/7 CT on The CW Network to find out all the answers to these questions and much more on SmackDown.
