Lance Storm Latest Q & A: Comments On Val Venis, Divas @!*&#!!, Stiffing Don Callis & More
Courtesy of Lance Storm's official website, Stormwrestling.com:
Q: Who are the most underutilized in the WWE now?
A: I think I would have to go with Val Venis. He is big, in great shape, and a very good worker, and I don't remember the last time I saw him on RAW.
Q: What age do you plan to fully retire?
A: There are a few projects on the table now that may affect my final decision. I don't have a set age in mind right now. As long as I enjoy what I am doing and the schedule isn't too hard on my family I will keep doing this as long as the office will have me.
Q: Would you rather have your book published by WWE or Independently?
A: I'll just be happy if it sees the light of day at some point. I doubt WWE will ever come to me to publish my book. They have bigger names that will sell better.
Q: Did you meet Porn Star Jenna Jameson when you were in ECW?
A: Both her and I were at an ECW PPV at the same time but I did not meet her.
Q: Does it bother you when some one, like Randy Orton, who is so young wins a World Title?
A: I don't worry about or even think about stuff like this. I am happy with what I achieved in the business, and whether Randy wins the title at 24 or 45 really doesn't effect me.
Q: What are your thoughts on working with Kane?
A: Apart from always taking that damn Choke Slam, I enjoyed it. (LOL)
Q: Why did you retire?
A: I get this all the time. Go back and read the commentary I wrote about it. I retired in May so it should be either a May or June commentary.
Q: Do you have a favourite in the Raw Diva search?
A: No I do not. I am not a fan of the segments so I haven't been paying that much attention.
Q: Why do you think Fit Finlay is more dangerous than Ken Shamrock?
A: I don't know Ken so my opinion may be incorrect but I see it this way. If I were in a fight with Ken I would no doubt lose, if I were in a fight with Fit, I likely wouldn't leave with the right amount of body parts. There is less danger in getting beat up than there is in getting beat to death.
Q: Have you ever stiffed someone on purpose?
A: I stiffed Don "Cyrus" Callis on purpose once. I was working with a jammed neck and asked him to be careful of it. He later proceeded to nail me several times in the neck. I got very angry, took him down and kicked him in the back as hard as I could. It was a safe kick that wouldn't injure him but I'm guessing it hurt quite a bit.
Q: What are your thoughts on the Raw Diva's language the other week?
A: I watched RAW on TSN and caught the replay later in the night, so I got the beeped version. It was obviously a disaster, and not exactly the family entertainment WWE was looking for. (LOL)
Q: How many PPVs a year do you actually purchase?
A: I don't purchase any. Believe it or not I have an in with the company and can usually get a copy of the show for free.
Q: Why does William Regal wipe his feet on the ring apron before getting into the ring?
A: This is just a habit he developed over the years. Back in the day, there were a lot of out door events and arenas that where somewhat less than state of the art, or clean. Wiping your feet before getting into the ring was needed to keep the canvas clean. With the arenas we run now it isn't really needed anymore, but I guess old habits die hard.
Q: Why do wrestlers tape their wrists?
A: I'm guessing most of the guys now don't even know why, they just do it because they think they are suppose to. I tape my wrists for two reasons. With a high flying style you break your fall a lot with your hands so I like the support. I'm one of the few guys who puts on their tape very tight. It is also there to help you hang on to each other when you get very sweaty. Your hand is less apt to slip off your opponent's wrist when whipping them off the ropes if they have tape on.
Till next time,
