Lashley Off WWE GAB PPV Due To Liver Ailment; Attributed To Steroid Use?
WWE posted the following article on WWE.com:
Lashley unable to compete
Bobby Lashley is unable to compete in this Sunday's Great American Bash. WWE physician Dr. Ferdinand Rios told WWE.com, "During his annual exam, Bobby Lashley was found to have elevated enzymes of the liver; therefore, he is not cleared to wrestle until further evaluation."
As a result of this breaking news, the Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship at The Great American Bash has changed. U.S. Champion Finlay will now defend the gold against William Regal in a one-on-one match.
For those who will not understand what this medical condition actually is, below is a brief explanation. Note that although many medical websites do not list it, steroid use is definitely a direct side effect for elevations in enzyme makers for liver (SGPT,SGOT).
Here's a more formal explanation of Lashley's condition:
Elevated liver enzymes doesn't indicate a specific disease. However, the condition could be due to liver disorder, even if someone doesn't show any visible symptoms of liver problems. The elevated levels are revealed in testing performed by physicians. Below are a few common causes of elevated liver enzymes which could be attributed to Lashley's condition:
- Medications, such as certain anti-inflammatory drugs & antibiotics
- Drinking too much alcohol
- Diabetes
- Elevated triglycerides
- Infections such as Viral & Autoimmune Hepatitis, mononucleosis, primary biliary cirrhosis; Metabolic liver disease
- Excessive use of vitamin supplements and certain herbal supplements
- Tumors of the liver or bile ducts
- Anabolic Steroids
Specific treatment of elevated liver enzyme depends on the actual cause of Lashley's condition. This is determined by physicians who will perform further tests to determine the cause.
