News Articles: 'Coastal Cleanup Finds Hulk Hogan's Head'...'Hulk Hogan - A Showbiz Dad?'
Here is an article that has nothing to do with wrestling, but the title itself makes it worth the post. The News Journal talks about a community cleanup by the waters in Delaware. And as the title reads during the cleanup.....
Coastal Cleanup finds Hulk Hogan's head
Box springs, a rusted propane tank and the head from a Hulk Hogan action figure were among the trash plucked from Delaware's shoreline Saturday as volunteers fanned out from Fox Point State Park to Fenwick Island for the annual Coastal Cleanup.
In the tiny bayfront village of Kitts Hummock in Kent County, volunteers turned the cleanup into a community event complete with a weenie roast on one of the town's two streets.
"Probably 70 people are out here," said Patty Broomley, site captain for the Kitts Hummock cleanup.
Out on the beach, 15 volunteers from St. John's Lutheran Church in Dover - 10 children and five adults - combed the sand for debris.
Among the items they salvaged was a tangled fishing net, an item that can claim the lives of sea creatures unlucky enough to become ensnared in its nylon web.
"The biggest thing we found was the fishing net. It took like 10 of us to drag it up the beach," said volunteer Sharon Petersen, who with husband Don helped supervise the youngsters.
Ten-year-old Olivia Holmes, of Smyrna, said it wasn't easy for her to get up early on a Saturday morning, but she was glad she did, even if some of her finds were not so pleasant.
"We found a sand shark on the beach, but it was pretty gross and nasty," Olivia said.
The youngsters also found a rusted automobile mired in the sand, a vehicle that once belonged to a local character known as Bicycle Bob.
Bicycle Bob, who died about 10 years ago, sometimes went for a spin along the beach - but when the auto got stuck years ago he left it there.
Now it occasionally reappears when waves scour away the sand that hides it.
A few miles to the north, a group of young volunteers from the Capital school district combed the shoreline at Port Mahon, where the waves of the Delaware Bay lap perilously close to the road.
Kim Cosetti, 17, Melissa Devine, 16, and Kari Browning, 17, all of Dover, said they didn't find a lot of interesting stuff, but they found a lot of plain old stuff.
"A bunch of cans," Kim said. "Shotgun shells," Kari added. "A crate," Melissa chimed in. While their haul was relatively mundane, another member of the crew found an unusual prize: six bags of chicken livers.
The number of volunteers who participated statewide was not yet counted, nor was the total amount of trash they picked up along the coast.
But in the last Coastal Cleanup, 1,135 volunteers picked up 17,564 pounds of trash, according to the state Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. DNREC sponsors the cleanup, along with Conectiv and Playtex Products, which supplies latex gloves for the volunteers.

Here's a more wrestling oriented article regarding Hulk Hogan and his dedication towards his daughter's musical career. (Article courtesy of The Concord Monitor:)
Hulk Hogan - a showbiz dad?
The famous wrestler takes to a new touring circuit.
ans of the torn yellow tank top and the leg-drop beware. Hulkamania has got a new prefix: Brooke.
In a silvery tube top and towering heels, Hulk Hogan's 16-year-old daughter was on stage at Steeplegate Mall yesterday promoting her debut album "Brooke Hogan: This Voice."
Which means a new role for dad.
"It's crazy," said the Hulk, in a white tank top and navy bandana, after the show. "I'm used to being in control. When she walks through those stage doors, I lose control."
Not that the six-time WWF/E world champion, who signed autographs alongside his daughter (and conceded the obligatory muscle-flex), seems to particularly care.
Born Brooke Bollea, Brooke Hogan released her first single "Everything to Me" this past summer, and the jumpy song became a pop station staple. The album will be released on Sept. 21.
Hogan put in a full day in New Hampshire yesterday, stopping in Concord, Rochester and Portsmouth in the midst of a whirlwind mall-and-Wal-Mart-style tour across the country. Hogan performed several songs from her new album and did a sing-along-style encore of "Everything to Me."
"I can't believe these kids are singing along," Brooke Hogan said. "I'm the kind of fan who sings along to stuff by Britney Spears."
But the coterie of 11-year-old girls lip-synching (and belting) Hogan's new lyrics seem to think she's the next Britney in the making.
Gena Kalampalikis, who got to Steeplegate Mall at 9 a.m. for the 11 a.m. performance, said Hogan has the looks, the voice and the genes to do well on stage.
"It runs in the family, and the mom's really nice," said Kalampalikis, munching Burger King while she waited in line for an autograph. "They're a great family."
As for the Hulk, Hogan said he is working out with the New Pro Wrestling in Japan and toying with the idea of a return.
"I'm working out there, but I'm too old for this. It hurts my body too much," he said.
A veteran of film, with cameos in Rocky III (1982), Mr. Nanny (1993) and Santa with Muscles (1996), Hulk Hogan said his cinema days are over for a while too, although he is doing things, including a reality show, for Vh1.
"Stage-dad type shows," he said. "It's pretty wild."
But fans yesterday said they thought Brooke Hogan was making it on her own. Even Andre the Giant might have cheered.
"I think a lot of people thought she'd become famous off her dad's name, but she has really proved it,"said Carey LaFleur, a Chichester mom with four teenagers in tow.
Still, touring with Andre the Giant's vanquisher can't hurt.
Even LaFleur admitted that she brought the kids to see Brooke, but she was eager to see the wrestler herself.
"Come on, he's the Hulk," she said.
But how exactly does one family get from takedowns to lovesick song-lyrics?
Linda Hogan, who wondered why no one called an ambulance the first time she saw Hogan take a hit, has an answer.
"My side of the family," she said. "I think my father's side is very musical."
