NWATNA PPV Results 7/30/2003 Credit Buck Woodward and 1wrestling.com for these results: NWA: Total Nonstop Action for July 30th began with a video recap of last week's ladder match between D'Lo Brown and AJ Styles, which ended with both men falling off the ladder and landing on the mat with the NWA World Title belt. They had comments from referee Rudy Charles, who said he had to make a difficult decision, but since there was no decisive winner, he had to award the belt to the champion. They showed Vince Russo talking to Styles backstage, who said Brown would not get a rematch. Outside the building, Scott Hudson tried to interview AJ Styles, who was arriving with Trinity. Styles said "No comment" in regards to Brown getting a rematch. Sonny Siaki emerged, saying the spotlight on TNA should be on him. Jerry Lynn defeated Elix Skipper in 23 seconds. Skipper attacked Lynn before the bell and hit a suplex for a two count. Skipper went for the Play Of The Day, but Lynn blocked it and hit a La Magistral cradle for a quick pin. Skipper got on the mic and started insulting Lynn, challenging him to make it two out of three falls. Lynn agreed, and got back in the ring. Jerry Lynn defeated Elix Skipper in 6:05. Lynn pounded Skipper in the corner, but Skipper came back with a spin kick. Skipper stomped Lynn, and hit a short arm clothesline. Lynn battled back, kicking away a Skipper backdrop. Lynn got crotched on the top rope, and Skipper did a rope walk before hitting a rana on Lynn. Skipper pounded Lynn against the ropes, but Lynn backdropped him to the apron. Skipper avoided the guillotine legdrop, and hit an awkward somersault clothesline. Skipper used a chinlock on Lynn, who fought out of it. Skipper hit a twisting legdrop from the corner for a two count. Skipper put Lynn in a front facelock. Lynn battled back with a backdrop and a neckbreaker, then hit a spinning faceplant from the second rope. Lynn and Skipper traded reversals, and the referee got bumped. Skipper picked up his scale and went to hit Lynn with it, but Lynn ducked and kicked the scale into Skipper's face. Lynn then covered Skipper for the pin. Sonny Siaki came to the ring with Trinity. Siaki started out bragging, then claimed he "stole the show" by interfering in all of the Brown-Styles matches last week. He said that if not for him, Styles would have lost the title. This brought Styles out to the ring. Styles said he held onto the title because he was the best in the business. Styles told Siaki "his role" saying Styles holds the gold, while Siaki "holds his bags". Siaki said he was Vince Russo's right hand man, and that in the playing deck where Siaki is the ace, Styles is the "joker". Styles slapped Siaki, asking if that was funny. Styles said he didn't need Trinity or Siaki. Brown came to the ring, and told Styles he didn't need anyone, and that he could see the competitive fire in Styles when he is on his own. Brown said Styles had the same questions in his mind over last week's match. Brown challenged Styles to go one-on-one for a final time to see who truly is the World Champion. Styles agreed to face Brown one more time, saying this time the match would be about respect. Styles offered a handshake to Brown. They shook hands, and Siaki clipped Brown's leg. Styles pulled Siaki away from Brown, then started to pound on Brown himself. All three beat on Brown, until Erik Watts hit the ring and chokeslammed Siaki. Watts and Brown cleared the ring. Watts used his power as "Director Of Authority" to announce that next week AJ Styles vs. D'Lo Brown for the World Title will take place, with no Siaki, Trinity or Legend allowed at ringside. Watts then added that Vince Russo could sit at ringside, handcuffed to Watts. Watts then topped it off by making it a cage match. Don West & Mike Tenay welcomed us to the show. Scott Hudson interviewed Raven and Julio Dinero. Dinero said that CM Punk "flaked out" on them. Raven didn't care, since he just wanted to get his hands on Shane Douglas. Raven said they would go it three on two, but then Alexis said she would go into the match with them as well. Sandman defeated Edward Chastain, with Don Callis, in 2:05 to win back the Hard Ten cup. Callis took the mic before the match, and said that he would give the people what they want, which was Edward Chastain vs. Sandman. However, Callis said Sandman would have to wrestle, and that this was not a hardcore match. Callis said if Sandman did not wrestle, he would be "downsized". Chastain hit a bodyblock early, and followed with an elbowdrop. Don Callis joined the announcers, and told Don West he had to change his name, since you can't have two people with the same first name on a wrestling show. Chastain delivered a bodyslam and a legdrop. Chastain went for a senton off the apron to the floor, but Sandman moved out of the way. Sandman jumped off a chair into a leg lariat on the floor. Sandman hit a bulldog in the ring, but the referee would not let him use the Singapore cane. Sandman then went for the Hard Ten Cup, and accidentally hit the referee. Sandman then used the cane, and delivered a cane-assisted legsweep to Chastain. The referee recovered and Sandman scored the pin. Sandman poured beer in the Hard Ten cup, and left the ring. Callis got in the ring and ripped on Chastain for "disappointing the customers". Callis put on a rubber glove, shook Chastain's hand, and told him he had to be "let go" as a result of "corporate downsizing". Shark Boy was shown in the back, depressed. Athena tried to cheer him up with his Hulk Hands. Norman Smiley showed up and taught Shark Boy the Big Wiggle to cheer him up. Norman said he would be Shark Boy's new partner. Simon Diamond & Swinger, with Glen Gilberti, defeated Shark Boy & Norman Smiley in 5:15. Towards the end, Shark Boy got a hot tag in to Smiley, who hit a clothesline on Swinger and a butt bump to Diamond. Smiley slammed Swinger, and put Diamond in the Big Wiggle. Diamond superkicked Smiley out of the ring. Shark Boy hit a top rope dropkick on Swinger, but was caught in the Problem Solver (elevated DDT) and was pinned. Gilberti got on the microphone, and said that while AMW got a whipping the previous week, ring announcer Jeremy Borash didn't get his. AMW ran in before Diamond, Swinger and Gilberti could whip him. AMW challenged Diamond & Swinger for a "Rawhide strap match" for next week, in which four straps will be placed in the ring for the wrestlers to use. An interview with Vince Russo aired. Russo said he was looking out for AJ Styles. He said his vision of "Sports Entertainment Extreme" was still going to happen, but it was on the back burner due to his hatred of Jeff Jarrett. Russo admitted he was obsessed with Jarrett. Vince Russo insinuated that he was responsible for Goldylocks being gone, and that he has the stroke in TNA because of Styles being the champion. Scott Hudson interviewed Chris Sabin. Sabin put down Frankie Kazarian, and was interrupted by Erik Watts. Watts said he was giving Sabin a special referee tonight, and brought out Frankie Kazarian in a referee shirt. Chris Sabin defeated Michael Shane in 9:58 to retain the X Division Title. Back and forth match, with special referee Kazarian actually being consistent in his counts for both men. Sabin went to use the title belt, but Kazarian took it away. Sabin hit a superkick on Shane, then shoved Kazarian for taking the belt. Kazarian gave Sabin the Wave Of The Future. Shane went for the cover, and Kazarian was going to count, but referee Rudy Charles stopped him, and sent him from the ring. While Charles was ordering him to the back, Sabin hit Shane with the title belt. Charles got back in the ring and counted the pin, so Sabin retains the title. A vignette aired showing how "Mad Mikey" gets mad all day and takes it out on people (and in one case, a computer monitor). He got mad at work, at a fast food attendant, at everyone. He will be back next week. They aired footage of last week's confrontation between Ricky Morton and Kid Kash. Scott Hudson interviewed Ricky Morton, who pointed out that he taught Kid Kash everything he (Kash) knows, but not everything he (Morton) knows. Kid Kash defeated Ricky Morton in six minutes. Sarah Lee came out to ringside to cheer Morton on. Morton sent Kash out of the ring early and hit him with a tope. However, Kash kicked Morton as they got back in the ring. Kash went for a baseball slide, but Morton caught him and slammed him on the floor. Kash yanked Morton's tights to send him into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Kash hit a top rope clothesline and put Morton in a chinlock. Kash and Morton exchanged blows, but Kash hit a low knee and a gutbuster. Kash worked over morton with a armbar, but Morton came back with a backslide for a two count. Corsica Joe came out to ringside as well. Morton missed a clothesline, and Kash kicked him to the mat. Kash went for a springboard somersault dropkick from across the ring, but Morton moved out of the way. Morton hit a backdrop and a dropkick for a two count. Morton got a sunset flip for two and they exchanged reversals for a two count. Kash poked Morton in the eyes. Kash went to the top, but Morton crotched him and gave him a bodyscissors to the mat. The referee was checking on Kash, and Abyss ran in and gave Morton a drop-down torture rack backbreaker. Abyss ran off, and Kash covered Morton for the pin. After the match, Kash went after Sarah Lee, but Morton slugged him. Kash threw a chair at Morton, knocking him down. Kash then went after Lee, but security stopped him. 3 Live Crew went to a Mexican restaurant. BJ James was tricked into drinking salsa. Ron Killings ordered orange juice, and ended up drinking tequila. There were some tasteless jokes involving BG James in the toilet. Next week, BG James takes the group to the trailer park. The TNA Girls, armed with Cat-O-Nine Tails, called out Valentina and Veronica. Trinity came out with them, then ordered them to go to the ring alone. The TNA Girls quickly got the advantage, whipping Valentina and clearing the ring. Trinity watched from the apron, annoyed at their lack of effort. Valentina and Veronica retreated up the ramp. A Christopher Daniels promo aired. The promo said he would be making his TNA return next week. A video on the events leading to the Clockwork Orange House Of Fun match was shown. Raven, Alexis and Julio cleared the ring at the start, using weapons to keep Douglas and the New Church on the floor. Alexis dove off the top rope on everyone, but she was caught and dumped to the floor. Julio then went for a dive, but was caught as well. Raven delivered a baseball slide to Dinero, knocking down the pile. They began brawling on the floor, with Douglas and Raven pairing off. Slash blasted Dinero with a trash can, bloodying him. Mitchell stabbed Dinero in the head with a spike, and Slash hit him with a crutch. Raven was busted open by Douglas in the crowd. Slash used a broken piece of crutch to carve up Julio's head. Lee dragged Julio up the ramp. Slash hit Alexis with a trashcan lid in the ring. Douglas hit Raven with a trashcan at ringside. The New Church and Douglas were in full control. Slash hit a whirlybird on Alexis. Douglas hit a belly to belly on Raven. Slash went for a Doomsday Device on Julio, who was on Lee's shoulders, but Dinero rolled Lee into a victory roll for a two count (the referee was way out of place) Douglas clotheslined Dinero from the ring. Lee accidentally kicked Douglas out of the ring while going after Alexis. Alexis used a rana to take Slash from the ring. This left Lee in the ring with Alexis, but Raven and Dinero ran in and double superkicked Lee from the ring. Raven and Dinero went to work on Slash and Douglas, putting them in abdominal stretches so Alexis could hit them with cane shots. Douglas was given a conchairto with trashcan lids. The brawl continued, and Raven put Shane Douglas on a table at ringside. Raven elbowdropped Douglas through the table from the second rope. In the ring, Alexis hit a swinging DDT on Slash. An arm came out from under the ring and yanked Raven under it. In the ring, Lee hit a chokeslam on Alexis. Dinero rallied, fighting off Lee and Slash. Dinero and Lee collided on trash can shots, knocking both out. Raven rolled back out from under the ring, apparently beaten up, and Douglas rolled on top of him for the win, getting the pin on the floor. Scott Hudson interviewed D'Lo Brown about his cage match next week with AJ Styles. Brown put over the importance of the World Title, and raked an apple across the steel cage, saying the shredded fruit was Styles' face next week. Don West & Mike Tenay hyped next week's show. - America's Most Wanted vs. Simon Diamond & Swinger in a "Rawhide strap match". - X Division Champion Chris Sabin vs. Frankie Kazarian. - NWA World Champion AJ Styles vs. D'Lo Brown in a steel cage with Vince Russo handcuffed to Erik Watts at ringside, and Sonny Siaki & Trinity barred from the building. Scott Hudson interviewed AJ Styles about the cage match. Styles was confident of victory next week. A video package on the feud between Jeff Jarrett and Legend was shown, including interviews with both men. Jarrett and Legend went at it before the bell, with Jarrett hitting a dropkick and a series of rights. Legend came back with a knee to the midsection. Legend tried to climb one of the poles, but Jarrett shoved him off the top to the floor. Jarrett brutalized Legend on the floor, and hit a backdrop in the ring. Jarrett went for the guitar, but Legend caught him, only to be slugged to the mat by Jarrett. Legend hit a facebuster out of a fireman's carry. Legend used a surfboard/chinlock combo to stretch Jarrett. Jeff came back with an attempted bodypress, but Legend caught it and hit a backbreaker for a two count. Legend put Jarrett in an armbar and pounded on his midsection. Legend even used a claw on the midsection. Legend went for the guitar, but Jarrett pulled him off the pole with a running powerbomb. Legend hit a powerslam and went for the guitar again. Jarrett slammed him off the top rope. Jarrett went for the Stroke, but Legend blocked it, only to have Jarrett hit it on the second attempt. Jeff Jarrett went and got the baseball bat. Sonny Siaki came in and grabbed the bat from Jarrett. Jarrett attacked Siaki, who dropped the bat. Jarrett tossed Siaki out of the ring, and Legend got the bat and hit Jarrett with it. Legend covered Jarrett for a two count. Siaki went to climb up for the guitar, but black-shirted security grabbed his legs to stop him. Jarrett tossed Siaki into Legend, and got control of the baseball bat. Jarrett hit Siaki with it, but then red-shirted security came in and stopped Jarrett from hitting Siaki with the bat again. This allowed Legend to get the advantage again, but Jarrett continued to kick out, and hit Legend with a superplex. The two ended up battling on the ropes near the guitar, and Jarrett hit a top rope Stroke on Legend. Jarrett got the guitar and went for a top rope shot but Legend ducked it. Legend knocked Jarrett down and grabbed the baseball bat. Legend climbed the ropes, but as he came off, Jarrett hit Legend with the guitar. The guitar didn't break, so Jarrett went to the ropes and hit Legend with it again, smashing it over his head. Jarrett then got the pin. Christopher Daniels, in a suit, ran into the ring and attacked Jarrett. Daniels hit a enzugiri, sent Jarrett from the ring, then hit an Arabian moonsault on him. Daniels used the ringsteps to launch into the air and splash Jarrett against the guard rail. Jarrett was tossed back into the ring, as Daniels said "Tradition ends tonight." Legend hit Jarrett with a stunner, then held him down in the ring. Daniels jumped off the top rope with the baseball bat, driving it into Jarrett's chest. Daniels stood over Jarrett to end the show
