Roddy Piper Thanks Fans; ECW Preview; 5Q With Hulk Hogan; Joanie Laurer Interview; Monty Brown / Raw; WWE Makes Yahoo Top 5 Of 2007
Monty Brown was backstage at Monday's Raw / ECW tapings. Brown was there basically to get acquainted with WWE and the structure of how the live events run weekly.
Here is your WWE preview of tonight's ECW episode on Sci-Fi:
Bobby Lashley made it a December to Dismember in the Extreme Elimination Chamber Match Sunday night—using a table to break himself out of his sabotaged pod, he outlasted four other Extremists, then took down Big Show to become the new ECW World Champion. Paul Heyman, however, isn’t giving him time to celebrate. Moments after Lashley won the championship, ECW’s self-proclaimed messiah insisted on ECW.com that he grant the seven-foot 500-pound Big Show a rematch on ECW on Sci Fi Tuesday night. Lashley knows all-too-well that the odds are stacked against him, especially with Heyman plotting to have his giant recapture the gold. Still, he has no intention of backing down. Can he prevail in his next mission—defeat Big Show for the second time in three nights, and retain his new ECW World Championship?
Big Night for New Bloods
In addition to Lashley’s championship win at December to Dismember, several other ECW newcomers emerged victorious over the Originals. Elijah Burke and Sylvester Terkay imposed their authority over the FBI’s Little Guido Maritato & Tony Mamaluke, while Daivari stole a huge upset win over Tommy Dreamer. But it was The Great Khali who added the exclamation point after that matchup, almost breaking the Innovator of Violence in half by slamming him onto the unyielding steel stage. Will the new breed continue to dominate this Tuesday?
Mike Knox Over Kelly Kelly?
Mike Knox didn’t appreciate Kelly Kelly wishing CM Punk luck in the Extreme Elimination Chamber—so he deserted his girlfriend in the ring during their Tag Team Match with Kevin Thorn and Ariel. A shaken-up Kelly was no match for Ariel, who’s been trying to sink her fists—and her fangs—into the blonde exhibitionist for weeks now. Sandman raced down to make the save, but one question remains: have Kelly Kelly and Knox reached the breaking point?
The bodies hit the floor hard at December to Dismember Sunday night…but the carnage continues on ECW on Sci Fi this Tuesday at 10/9 CT.
On December 4, 2006 a very sober Joanie "Chyna" Laurer appeared on "The Dr. Keith Ablow Show". Joanie talked about life after wrestling, her three latest movie projects and her future career plans.
She said she is very proud of the direction her career is taking and that she feels like she is finally back on track and headed in the right direction for the first time in 3 years.
The interview turned tearful for Joanie and many people in the audience when Joanie began talking about her past drug and drinking problems. Joanie said the problems began after hooking up with Sean, but at the same time she took responsibility for her own actions saying she used the drinking as away to cope with her own reality in the relationship.
She mentioned when she left the WWE she did not leave due to money issues, but in fact she left because Stephanie wanted her out.
She credited her fans as the reason for her sobriety today but said she is still having problems moving on and that she is pain physically and mentally everyday from her past relationship and the drinking. She then went on to say that she did this appearance to fight back against her own personal demons and to get all of her pain out there.
Topic turned to "The Surreal Life" which Joanie said she originally didn't want to do and only did it for money, but now looking back on everything she is glad she did because "The Surreal Life" was her big wake up call.
Footage was then shown of "Illegal Aliens" as the show closed.
WWE.com posted this update on Roddy Piper's battle with Lymphoma:
Emotional Piper speaks out, will receive treatment
"I'll walk down that Raw ramp again, or I'll be dead."
Those were just a few of Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper's words on Monday afternoon during a phone conversation with WWE.com in which he repeatedly thanked the WWE fans.
Piper was sent home early from WWE’s early-November tour of the United Kingdom and hospitalized. While in the hospital, he underwent a four-hour surgery, where doctors removed a mass at the spinal cord with an enlarged lymph node. The mass was completely removed, but the lymph node was positive for lymphoma.
"This is the second time wrestling, and the wrestling fans have saved my life," said an emotional Piper. "When I was 15, it took me off the streets and kept me out of jail. This time, thanks to the WWE fans who voted me in for Cyber Sunday, I was able to find cancer."
Finding the cancer was just the first step in Piper's ordeal. On Thursday, the legend will begin receiving radiation for the low grade lymphoma, which will last for four weeks. Piper told WWE.com that on January 15, upon the completion of radiation treatment, he expects to walk out of the hospital with a clean bill of health.
The Chicago Tribune posted this article featuring '5 Questions With Hulk Hogan':
We spoke recently with wrestling legend Hulk Hogan. His nicknames have included The Hulkster and Hollywood Hogan, but his real name is Terrence Bollea. Last year, he was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame.
Are you friends with any wrestlers you've faced? Yes, most of the wrestlers are my friends. When we go out there, we put on a good show and try not to hurt each other. But some of my best friends are The Big Show and The Rock.
What is your most prized possession from your wrestling career? The yellow boots that I wore when I body-slammed Andre the Giant.
We read that your family has a lot of pets. Do you have a favorite? We have all kinds of dogs, cats, roosters, turtles and ferrets. We have about 45 animals. My favorite right now is my little black Chihuahua, Star. I call her Star Binks, like from the character Jar Jar Binks in "Star Wars."
You play guitar and have performed in your own band. Do you plan to tour with your daughter Brooke, who is a successful singer? Yes, I plan on going on tour with Brooke, because at age 18, she still needs her dad around. I can't wait to see her perform in all the arenas I used to wrestle and hear all the fans screaming for her.
Where do you see yourself five years from now? I would love to spend most of my time with my kids, traveling around. Right now, we're working so much, filming [VH1's "Hogan Knows Best"] and my daughter's music career, and my son is starting to race cars; hopefully, five years from now, I'll be able to have some fun just watching my kids.
