Radio Recap: Steve Corino Speaks On MLW, Current Legal Troubles & More

Major League Wrestling Champion Steve Corino was a guest on Between The Ropes out of Orlando, Florida last night to promote the promotion's upcoming show this Saturday night. Here is a brief recap of the interview.

- Corino just got back from an extended tour of Japan working with Zero One. He also worked some shows which were promoted by UFO. He enjoyed the tour and everyone that was on it except for those damn Ghafari Brothers who he said are basically worthless.

- He did use a new finisher while working overseas which he named the Colbykaze after his son Colby. The move is when he takes his opponent in an airplane spin and then drops it down into a tombstone piledriver.

- He discussed his recent legal issues where he was charged with fraud. He was on a flight back from Japan and when he landed in Detroit, he was arrested by police. He did not know what he was being charged with for several days and was incarcerated for a total of 15 days. During that time, he did not receive a phone call with his family and friends guessing his whereabouts. He finally was taken back to Pennsylvania and was released on bond.

- He said that time was pure hell and hopes he never has to go through anything like that again. He is just happy to be home with his son now. There are still some ongoing issues that he cannot talk about which he hinted are counter suits being filed on his behalf.

- He is very excited to be returning to Florida and working with MLW. The Fort Lauderdale show last month was very exciting for him because the crowd was over 1500 paid. Several months earlier, the promotion had worked in the same building with only about 250 fans.

- Corino loves the Extreme Horsemen faction with CW Anderson and Simon Diamond. He had hoped to work a group like this back in ECW but Paul Heyman never went forward with it. MLW wanted to put them together and he came up with the Extreme Horsemen name.

- On the MLW show this Saturday night in Orlando, the storyline is that the Extreme Horseman have hired someone to take out Terry Funk. Corino broke the news of who that person would be...Abdullah the Butcher!

- Steve also talked about several others subjects on wrestling and his career as well as his upcoming MLW title defense against Mike Awesome on Saturday night.
