Before I go any further, I want to thank my good friend, Shannon Ward aka "Daffney" for taking the time out and doing the interview with me. If you havent heard it yet, I suggest that you do.
Without trying to sound biased, the more I speak with Shannon (Daffney) the more I feel for her. Here's a woman who is flat out COMMITTED to the business. She started out as an actress who was always a wrestling fan. She was brought into WCW with no wrestling ability whatsoever.
For the last 3 years, she has trained with one of the all time best in the business, Dusty Rhodes. She worked at it, trained, "Paid her dues", and can now hold her own in the ring. She has a huge following in the business, and this was BEFORE she had an ounce of wrestling ability. And to me, because she is not a "Barbie Doll" type of woman, or "exotic", WWE shuns her.
They chose Linda and Jackie from Tough Enough. There's some real drawing ability there. And lets be honest. Linda's "unfaithfulness" in a hottub basically sealed her job in WWE. Just what Mr. McMahon ordered.
I am actually glad the WWE didnt pick up Daffney. I have seen NWATNA the first 2 weeks, and I see promise. My only concern, can they keep the viewers they have on a consistent basis. Remember, they can always get a TV deal later on, if this promotion does flourish. A PPV only show will hit its limitations. And since Shannon only lives 3 hours from their shows, she would fit in just nice with that promotion. I just hope that Jimmy Hart does the right thing and let her buy the rights to her name. The girl doesnt need another person in the business to play the role of scumbag to her.
----------------------------------------------------------

Speaking of NWATNA, they have promise. I think they need to eliminate some of the "Non" Wrestling folk, or at least, limit it to a "once in a while" angle. With only a 90 minute per week show, we want to be entertained with wrestling. The WWE should stand for "We Were Entertaining".

The WWE is stale. They remind me of SPAM, or even TOFU. Anyone that has eaten either, you know what I mean. No matter what you do to it, try to add flavor to it, mix it with other things, the core is still a nasty food. The WWE can sign Goldberg, Jarlsberg, whatever. Its the writing team. Plain and simple. All these talent, and they cant gain interest. The Electricity is gone. The shows have that "Electricity" to it, in order for it to get better.
The ratings represent one thing. Only the die hard WWE fans, and us journalists are tuning in. They lost pretty much the WCW audience. A majority of the WCW audience tuned into them because it was an alternative to the WWF.

In my interview with Daffney, she brought out a good point. It seems like the WWE is running Tough Enough, and putting these people on TV, maybe to try and get the MTV audience. The problem. The MTV audience is primarily teenagers, and the WWE has lost 35% of their viewership. They are doing nothing to gain their interest. Bra and Panties dont do it anymore. Tough Enough certainly doesnt do it. ---------------------------------------------------------
As each day goes by and Steve Austin doesnt give an explanation to his fans, the wrestling fans in general, his career goes once step close to being done. If he walked out because of the direction of the company, kudos to him. And if you think about it, it would be hard to explain that to the fans, without insulting his boss.
However, Steve Austin was making millions of dollars. If he doesnt like the storylines, too bad. Its a story. Its fiction. He is not Steve Austin. He is Steve Williams. As long as he gets his 3 million dollar paycheck, he should shut his hole and job to Brock Lesnar. And think about it. Why should Steve Williams complain about the direction of a fictional character? ----------------------------------------------------------- As far as the rumors to Wrestlemania 19 being held in either Yankee Stadium in NY, or Giants Stadium in NJ, I dont think so.
One, most importantly, the weather. Neither stadium is a dome. There is no way of predicting the weather for the day of the event.
And number two, Wrestlemania is usually held in late March, early April. It can be damm cold here in NY at that time! No fan is going to want to stand outside to see wrestling for 4 hours. And no wrestler is going to want to wrestle in tights and sweat outside in 40-50 degree weather. Come on, they bitch about catering. Imagine 50 degree weather??? ---------------------------------------------------------- Finally, thanks to all that gave me props to predicting the winners of the entire King of The Ring card right. Does that make me good? Or does it prove that KOR was a predictible, but entertaining, show? I believe the second of the two.
As far as Summerslam, I can help but to feel they may go with Rock vs Brock for the title. What I am hoping for, is a 4 way dance. Rock vs Brock, vs HHH, vs Angle, vs RVD, vs Undertaker. Why? I dont know. I hate 6 pack matches. But I dont like Brock in the main event yet. And I dont want a lead storywriter (HHH) wearing the belt. And, if Undertaker is going to transform into a "face", let him have the belt for Summerslam.
Why did I leave Hogan out of the mix? I see him taking on Vince McMahon. Remember, Summerslam is being held in NY. Hogan country.
Where does that leave Edge? He can take on Guerrero, or maybe Benoit. Flair can take on the other of the two.
The women I dont care for. But I hope noone from Tough Enough is in the match.
Rey Mysterio Jr vs Jaime Noble. Id like to see many other cruiserweights take on Rey Rey at the PPV, but Noble will still have the belt by then.
And have the NWO feud with whoever is left. Maybe Nash vd Booker T. Goldust vs Big Show. Maybe not.
And please. Drop this ridiculous, stupid, assenine, boring, and stupid 24/7 rule. Crash Holly is an 89 time hardcore champ.
