WWE Dark Matches, Smackdown & ECW Spoilers (Worcester, MA)

Spoilers credited to Joe Gagne:

Dark Match:

Sylvan beat Scott Wright (local wrestler) when he reversed a top rope cross body.

Smackdown:

Finlay came out with his midget under a towel. He bragged about what he did to Batista and said we wouldn’t see him tonight. Lashley came out and called Finlay a coward. Then Teddy Long came out and made a #1 contender’s match between the two, with the winner getting the shot at No Mercy. Afterward Lashley shoved Finlay and he tripped over the midget, who then attacked Finlay. Finlay punched the midget and threw him under the ring. We didn’t see him the rest of the night.

Regal met with Finlay about his main event.

Greg Helms vs. Matt Hardy: Crowd was into Hardy. Helms won a good match with a kick to the groin behind the ref’s back.

Rey had Dominic with him backstage (couldn’t hear the audio). They ran into Dean Malenko.

Jimmy Wayne Yang promo talking about Asian people and the funny way they talk.

The Miz vs. Scotty II Hotty: Surprisingly OK match. Miz won with a neckbreaker.

Brian Kendrick vs. Kid Kash vs. Idol Stevens: Everyone’s tag partner was at ringside. OK match but little heat. Kendrick pinned Kash after a swinging DDT. The Pitbulls and Idol and KC James argued after the match.

Finlay met with King Booker backstage.

Rey sat Dominic in front of a monitor backstage to watch his match with Mr. Kennedy.

Boogey Man promo video. No set date for his return.

Rey vs. Mr. Kennedy for the U.S. title. Before the match, Vicky and Chavo are seen talking to Dominic. Long match, and dull for the most part. Crowd was definitely behind Mysterio. End saw Vicky and Chavo come out with Dominic, distracting Rey and allowing Kennedy to roll him up for the pin. Afterwards Dominic runs to Rey.

Vito vs. William Regal. The usual Vito match. Vito blocked a sunset flip for the pin.

Booker complains to Teddy Long backstage when Vito shows up. Teddy makes Vito vs. Booker for the season premiere of Smackdown (seriously). We learn later Rey vs. Chavo is next week too.

Sylvester Terkay vs. Handsome Johnny (local indy guy): “Boring” chants for this one. Terkay wins by submission.

Finlay vs. Lashley: Booker and Sharmel were down to do commentary, and Regal was at ringside and interfered a few times. Lashley gets the shillelagh and smacks Lashle with it, but the ref sees it and DQ’s Finlay. Booker jumps Lashley, but Batista comes down and makes the save, chasing Finlay to the back, while Lashley hits the spear on Booker.

ECW:

Sabu & Sandman & Tommy Dreamer vs. Mike Knox & Test & Matt Striker: Stryker knocks Sandman off the apron early in the match, and he has to be helped to the back. The heels are DQ’d when Test pushed the ref (Scott Armstrong, I think) into the ropes, knocking Sabu off the top. Sandman comes back with a cane and cleans house.

The story of the shows was Booker T was a guest of Smackdown, and Paul Heyman was introducing him. They ran into CW Anderson and Stevie Richards (who genuflected), and then Balls Mahoney.

Kevin Thorn vs. Balls Mahoney: Thorn won with the crucifix bomb after Balls was distracted by Ariel and Francine on the floor.

Booker encountered the FBI and then CM Punk backstage. Punk said maybe someday he would challenge Booker for his belt. Booker was appalled.

CM Punk beat Shannon Moore with the Anaconda Vice.

Finally, Booker ran into RVD backstage, and challenged him to a match

Odd segment next. Heyman and the Bashams came out for a promo. Paul recapped the night’s events, and said the RVD/Booker match was going to be extreme rules. Then he ragged on the crowd for a bit, saying “You will drink my Kool Aid tonight,” and when he found some original ECW fans, said he was glad the company went out of business. This was being filmed, but I’m not sure how much will be shown. He said Mr. McMahon would beat DX “this Sunday,” even though this show will air after the PPV. He said his ECW plans didn’t involve Worcester, then the ECW theme played and he quickly ended his rant.

Booker T vs. RVD: Exteme rules consisted of them using a chair. Booker missed the Harlem Hangover and RVD hit the frog splash. But before he could cover, Hardcore Holly ran in with a chair. Booker ended up getting the win with the axe kick.

Bonus match:

Booker & Finlay vs. Lashley & Batista: Lashley was playing face-in-peril, when he just speared Booker T and pinned him, without a hot tag to Bautista. I guess the wrestlers were tired too – the show finally ended at the four hour mark.

Smackdown and ECW shows were both OK, nothing earth shattering. No return dates announced.
