WWE Hall Of Fame Article; Edge Talks NHL; Jim Ross' Latest Blog; Khali Joins The Rock In Movie Remake; Joanie Laurer Shoot Interview Now On Sale
The Hall Of Fame Magazine website has an article posted covering this year's WWE Hall Of Fame inductees. It's an excellent read. However I don't understand why they would release the article now, since more inductees are likely to be added.

RF Video issued the following announcement regarding their latest Shoot Interview release, Joanie 'Chyna' Laurer. From some of the details I've been told about the interview, this is a must buy DVD. Trust me on this one. Here's RF Video's press release on the Joanie Laurer Shoot:

The 9th Wonder of the World, Chyna, gave RF VIDEO an exclusive shoot interview that will be the talk of the wrestling world for years. Often the center of controversy, Chyna finally sets the record straight on all the hot topics. We grilled Joanie on her entire career that included: being trained by Killer Kowalski, her ultra popular WWE run, Playboy photo shoot, the tumultuous relationship with Sean Waltman, VH1's Surreal Life, , and much, much more! This is one interview that will tear at your heart strings as Joanie emotionally describes for us in great detail about what it is like being one of the most recognizable women in wrestling history.
What makes this shoot stand out is the incredible amount of detail Chyna went into concerning her relationship with Triple H. If you thought that Matt Hardy put all the cards on the table in his great shoot with us, then you won't believe how much information Joanie gives. Telling never-before-heard-stories, Chyna talked about how she found out HHH was cheating on her and the immediate confrontation with Vince McMahon himself.
But that's not all! Chyna gives all the juicy details on the subjects wrestling fans want to know. Which WWE main event star refused to sell for her? Why was The Kat really fired? Does she regret anything in her book? What went wrong in her match with Chono in Japan? What is the real story between Joanie and TNA? These and many more questions are answered in one of the most emotional shoots RF VIDEO has had the privilege to be a part of.

Great Khali will have a small role in the movie remake based on the Get Smart series. The film will also star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Don't anticipate the film too much right now, as it is more than a year away from hitting theatres.
The NBC Sports website has an interview with Edge. The article primarily talks about the NHL with some wrestling mixed in.

Jim Ross posted the following new blog on his website, jrbarbq.com:
Arnie Skaaland.. K.C. Bar-B-Q.. Mr. Fuji.. Sooners’ Scrimmage.. Bar-B-Q Shipping..Chris Nowinski.. LIfetime Contracts.. WSB Radio Days.. Cornhusker Football.. Beef Jerky is Running Wild, Brother!
It is hard to believe that Wrestlemania is only a couple of weeks away and that fans from at least 23 countries outside North America will be attending the mega event live at Ford Field in Detroit. Once can only imagine the economic impact that Wrestlemania will have on the city of Detroit and the surrounding area including Windsor, Ontario which will see their casinos packed if my instincts are correct. I can easily see the day that a multitude of cities worldwide will be bidding to be the site of future Wrestlemanias much like other major events including the Final Four and Super Bowl. (Yes, I feel Wrestlemania will be held outside of North America some day – and no – I don’t know when for the record.)
It will be hard to imagine a Wrestlemania without Arnie Skaaland being backstage telling stories to the wrestlers, calling everyone he bumped into “Gabe” and looking for a card game. Arnie was perhaps best known as the manager of Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund, but old timers will tell you that Arnold Skaaland was a legit tough SOB in his day that few of his peers ever dared crossing. The former United States Marine was adept with his fists and wrestling and feared no one. Arnie loved a good game of cards and a big cigar and normally had a cigar in his mouth even after he quit smoking as he just gnawed on them like he did many an opponent. Arnie was a top junior heavyweight at one time and told me many stories about his time spend in Oklahoma wrestling back in the 40’s when my first boss LeRoy McGuirk was the kingpin of the junior heavyweight division. I am going to miss Arnie as he was always a class act to me and unlike some never treated me as an outsider when I first came to the WWE in 1993. Arnie always had a story for you and loved to make people laugh. When I first met Arnie we were introduced by Bobby Heenan who said that Arnie was a former Leatherneck and was in the “Same outfit as Jim Barnette” which Arnie chuckled at and feigned attacking “The Weasel” who ran for his dear life. A part of the fabric of the WWWF, now the WWE, left us when Arnold Skaaland passed away this week at age 82. I can just see Arnie passing through the Pearly Gates, being met by Gorilla Monsoon who would look at Arnie and emphatically say, “Get Out!” before giving Arnie a big hug. Our condolences go out to the Skaaland family and all of Arnie’s longtime friends and fans.
Luchta- I have great respect for the Nebraska Cornhusker football program and grew up watching the annual OU-Nebraska game on ABC on Thanksgiving weekend. I am not a big fan of Bill Callahan as he is no Dr. Tom Osborne. Cornhusker football is one of America’s great traditions and can count the WWE’s Tazz as a big fan.
Vanilla Gorilla- You had to go and ruin my day with a tax question! The WWE wrestlers are independent contractors and like any other independent contractor in this country they are obligated to pay their taxes quarterly based on estimated earnings.
Lucius-Our original Bar-B-Q sauce is sweet and non vinegar tasting. Our Chipotle Sauce is sweet with a hint of spice, but not “Tabasco” hot. The sleeper products we currently manufacture are our Chipotle Ketchup and our Jalapeno Honey Mustard, which have been huge hits. KC Bar-B-Q is awesome and it is hard to get bad “Q” in K.C. I have yet to eat any bad Bar-B-Q in your town.
Vince- “If Stone Cold drank less beer and hit the gym would he be able to wrestle more?” Wow. Austin had major neck surgery, as most fans know, a few years back which will continue limit his ability to wrestle on a regular basis unless he wants to risk being confined to a wheel chair if seriously injured again. Steve does work out regularly and drinks infinitely less beer or any other form of alcohol than he did in his hey day. Many of us wish Steve could wrestle regularly again but that’s not the hand that was dealt him. Will the WWE hire Teddy Hart? I have no idea. He has had two chances in the WWE already. Will the 3rd time be the charm? Perhaps. Teddy has talent but there is more to being on the WWE roster than simply having physical skills.
Chris- Thanks for the update on former ESPN big shot Mark Shapiro, who I spoke of on one of our recent blogs. Shapiro seemed to have a high intellect, but came across to me as nerdy and arrogant. From what I hear, many at ESPN were happy to see him go. I am an avid ESPN viewer so don’t mistake my rant that I am not a fan of their networks.
David- What WWE-TNA rivalry are we speaking? In all due respect to all involved, the good folks at TNA have a few miles to travel before they arrive on the same level as the WWE. The huge misconception here is this; the decision makers at TNA simply need to focus on improving their product and not worry about an imagined war with the WWE. That is largely what the WWE did during the Monday night wars which cannot be compared to an updated Monday night war with TNA, in my opinion. This is not a personal attack on TNA or anyone else but the simple fact is most businesses get better when they focus on what they are doing and not what the alleged competitors are up to.
Ross- Indeed Mr. Fuji is alive and well and living near Knoxville, Tennessee and he will be front and center at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Most will remember Fuji as a WWE manager but he was one helluva wrestler in his day and made a great team with Toru Tanaka.
BSC- The Sooners scrimmage was over two hours long and filled with hitting. The first scrimmage of the year did not make Coach Stoops happy as there were some sloppy tackling that upset the head man. The secondary has lots of depth but need to tackle better which they will. There are too many good athletes in the Sooner secondary for OU not to be good in these positions. This team has a plethora of talent and the focus of the spring will continue to be who will start at QB. All 3 QBs did well with no one standing apart from another but I personally liked the way red shirt freshman Sam Bradford threw the ball. True freshman Keith Nichol has a big time arm and will no doubt get his chances in the future. Who knows, maybe sooner than we expect. The QB job is especially wide open as are several other positions. RB DeMarco Murray from Las Vegas had a nice day after being red shirted last year. The Sooners have a chance to be very competitive this season and with an early win over Miami and a win in Dallas against Texas the Sooners have the opportunity to get more positive national press and to slip back into the national title picture.
Kev- I hear the ticket request list by celeb’s for Wrestlemania 23 is lengthy. I don’t know who has confirmed as attending as fans. Stay tuned as will I.
Dennis- I expect Larry “The Ax” Henning to induct his son Kurt, but I can’t confirm that. Nick Bockwinkel indicated recently that his former manager Bobby Heenan would induct him. It is sad to see a handful of fans knocking the Hall of Fame list this year. Perhaps they are not real fans after all.
Czar- I wish I could do more to help with the shipping costs of our products. Shipping isn’t cheap no matter what service one uses. I can say this however that shipping charges don’t increase that much if you buy more than one bottle of sauce. The most expensive shipping procedure is to have only one bottle of sauce shipped as the shipping companies have minimum pricing that we can’t get around. I assure you we are not in the shipping business, but we have to play by their rules.
Jordan- Apparently all three brands will be featured at all upcoming WWE PPVs which should provide the fans more value for their PPV dollars and encourage more fans to watch these PPVs. I wonder if that means that all the announce teams will be required to be at these events as well? I can easily see where these multi branded PPVs will have more star power which is a positive.
Tez- I don’t know what Andre weighed during his last days but I would guess over 500 pounds. Perhaps more. Andre’s back was in horrible shape and the additional weight and his excessive drinking did not help his general health.
Tenechia- Matt Hardy is a talented wrestler who always seems to get “this close” to taking it to the next level. Matt is a high character individual who gets another chance to shine at Wrestlemania 23 along with his talented brother Jeff.
J.J.- Chris Nowinski, the Harvard grad, is doing well working in the private sector and still doing some appearances and P.R. from time to time with the WWE.
Dale- How do I think the Detroit Lions will do in 07? Hard to say until after the draft. I would suggest that if they are not in the playoffs this year that MAJOR changes will occur in the Motor City. QB seems to be an issue there.
Carlos- The overall lack of title defenses at Wrestlemania is not a big concern to me. I am much more interested in the personal issues that are represented there and, at the end of the night, how good was the body of work from first match until the final, main event. Do I think it devalues the individual titles to not be defended at Wrestlemania? Not really.
Anthony- Of all the talents who have left the WWE for any number of reasons over the past couple of years the wrestler I would like to see most return would probably be Chris Jericho. Chris rarely ever had a bad match and is a highly entertaining and competitive individual. Brock Lesnar could also be doing really well financially if he were back in the WWE if he were focused and determined to be the best in the business.
Jake- I know of no one who has a “lifetime deal” with the WWE.
Manu- Sorry you never got thru on my old WSB Radio Show back in the day. I never answered the phones as a producer handled that task so I don’t know the procedure. I do know we got more calls in our one hour than any other hour on the station. I enjoyed doing that project and still think that sports/entertainment and radio are made for each other.
An Arkansas fan asked me about the WWE appearing live in Fayetteville on the campus of the University of Arkansas now that long time athletic director Frank Broyles is retiring. I really don’t know but it is great exposure when Raw, for example, originates from a college campus. Do I think that Jerry Lawler will ever wrestle Hulk Hogan in Memphis? I would guess that would be less than 50/50 but stranger things have happened in this whacky business. Perhaps if Hulk needs new material for his VH1 show I suppose through Jimmy Hart that it could happen but I would not bet a bottle of sauce that it will.
Tex- I have to suggest you try some decaf. Remember never write us when you are angry and you came off as somewhat “ex-wife bitter” for some reason in your last missive to us. I appreciate your passion and for checking out our site but disagree totally with your prediction that Wrestlemania will not be a good event.
My thanks to those of you that are ordering our beef jerky. I hope you will try all 4 flavors when deciding what jerky is your favorite. The jerky is selling great and I can assure you we have worked hard on these products to make them main event level. I sure hope you try an order and let us know what you think.
I am bowling tonight in the Coach Bob Stoops Annual Bowling Tournament for charity here in Norman. I am pleased that this event is closed to the public as I am not a Pete Weber. Perhaps I will wear an old wrestling mask so I can deny my lack of bowling skills by saying “I wasn’t even there”. We are bowling 3 games and I am trying to determine what the over/under will be for gutter balls from yours truly tonight. Wish me luck.
Final Four thoughts…Florida…Kansas…Texas…UCLA.
