WWE Raw Results 9/25/2006 (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma)

Recap courtesy of Powerwrestling.com:

WWE RAW Opener:

We start with the usual Raw intros then head to the arena for pyro. Jim Ross welcomed us to his home state with Jerry Lawler. The lights then went out in the building. Spotlights provided the light while Ross and Lawler introduced the show in the dark. They talked about DX having to run the gauntlet tonight against three unknown teams. Ross said the electricity and sound have gone out. The Raw music continued to play while Lillian Garcia stood in the ring. Her mic wasn't functioning, but you could hear a siren in the background. However, Candice Michelle's music worked. Candice walked out dressed to wrestle for a tournament match. Lita came out next. This truly was set up to be a dark match.

Women's Championship Tournament
First Round Match
Referee: Edge
Lita vs. Candice Michelle

Before the match, Lita took the cord mic. This was like an OVW moment with the old house mic. She said she had a private meeting with The Coach before the match and he let Lita pick the referee for the match. Edge came out as the referee. He checked Candice for illegal objects then Edge gave Lita a full body inspection.

The match:

The bell rang then Edge speared Candice. Lita made a cover for the win then John Cena hit the ring to clear Edge and Lita to the outside. Cena walked around the ring as some lights began to come up on the floor.

Winner - Lita

Back on RAW:

They came back with the lights back on and Cena in the ring talking on a regular mic. He said Edge tried to knock out the power in the building because he didn't want a piece of Cena. Cena said everyone is still in the building and ready to rock. Edge interrupted him with Lita. He told Cena to shut up. Edge said Cena is next going to claim that he's the reason the power came back on. Cena said the fans want to see him whip Edge. Edge sarcastically asked the fans if they want to see that. "Tonight, I don't think so," Edge said. He said he will invoke his re-match clause on his terms. He said he's going to take his lady and go celebrate. Cena then went on a joke spree about Lita's sexuality. Lita stood stonefaced on the floor, not reacting to anything. She then took the mic from Edge and said she's tired of Cena making jokes about her every week. "I'm a human being; I have feelings!" Lita said. The fans booed. This was one of her better promos in months, probably drawing off real emotion here. She then said Cena is the joke because everyone in the locker room is a better wrestler than him and even she is a better wrestler than him. Cena paused then said she's probably right, but only if he was blind and had one hand tied behind his back. He said he would wrestle Lita, but he fears scoring a major case of herpies. He then turned to the hard camera, acknowledging it, and said you cannot stop it, but you can only contain it. Edge then challenged Cena to a match against Lita with one hand tied behind Cena's back. Lita wasn't very happy about it. Edge reassured her then Cena just smirked, realizing he set himself up.

Intercontinental Championship Match
Referee: Jack Doan
Kane vs. Johnny Nitro (c)

The match:

Kane grappled Nitro and dropped him to the mat with a sidewalk slam before Nitro could even remove his jacket. Melina helped Nitro regain the advantage momentarily. Kane came back and set up for the Tombstone, but Umaga, who was banned from interfering in the match, ran into the ring and cracked a chair over Kane's back.

Winner by disqualification, Kane

The Aftermath:

Under Armando's encouragement, he squashed Kane in the corner with the charging rear bomb. Armando then held Kane against the ringpost and Umaga squashed ring steps into the post. I suppose the sound reverberations hurt Kane's ears. Umaga and Kane stood over Kane's fallen body.

Backstage:

Shawn Michaels was quietly reading the new WWE Magazine backstage. Triple H walked in and asked HBK what he was doing. HBK said there's an article about Hunter, who said the article has a story on him pinning Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, his facial hair, and the MSG incident. "Riveting, riveting!" HBK said. He said he was disappointed that there are no ads for DX merchandise in the magazine. They stared into the hard camera for individual Shopzone merchandise plugs. Maria then walked in and asked about the gauntlet. Hunter told Coach that he has two words for him. "No way!" Maria said. Hunter smiled then whispered, presumably, suck it in Maria's ear. She didn't quite catch it. Hunter then suggested a visual aid. He began to pull down his trunks, but HBK cockblocked and pulled him away from the scene. Eugene then walked into the scene with his jacket covered in green paint or something. Maria whispered in Eugene's ear what Hunter whispered in her ear. Eugene's eyes then rolled in the back of his head and he crashed to the floor off camera. The fans in the arena laughed.

This Week in Wrestling History:

This Week in Wrestling history was Sept. 23, 1977 for Gorilla Monsoon vs. Andre the Giant in a boxing match in Puerto Rico. They showed Andre knocking him out for the win.

Backstage:

Coach approached Shelton Benjamin and Torrie Wilson backstage. Coach told him that he needed to talk to him about what he said about using the race card last week. "Were you trying to embarrass me?!" Coach screamed. Shelton said he's being overlooked in this company because he's a black man. Coach said the truth is that Shelton has been given many opportunities and he's never capitalized. Shelton said he's three-time IC champion and the greatest athlete on Raw. Coach said Shelton is accusing Vince McMahon of discrimination when his role model is Dr. Martin Luther King. Shelton and Coach argued with Shelton calling him white washed and completely out of touch with being a black man. The most passion I've ever heard from Shelton on a promo. Jeff Hardy then interrupted and offered the light comedy because you can't be too serious on WWE TV for too long. He pretended to be black, asking them what was up. Coach and Shelton paused then stared at Jeff. Coach then booked them in a match against each other on the show. He sent them on their way to get ready. Edge and Lita then walked out of Coach's office. They said they were looking for Coach to discuss the Cena match. Coach said he would book Lita vs. Cena with one hand tied behind Cena's back in a No Holds barred match. However, he needs to make it interesting, as Vince McMahon would, or viewers would lose interest. He said Edge cannot lay a finger on Cena or he would forfeit his re-match for the title. Edge and Lita were beside themselves, realizing the plan was backfiring.

Referee: Chad Patton
Ric Flair vs. Mikey

Spirit Squad is in the ring as Ric Flair comes to the ring.

The start:

Please don't tell me we have three more weeks of Flair running the one-man Spirit Squad gauntlet. Squad remained ringside this week. Flair slammed down Mikey then strutted. Mikey caught Flair off the ropes with a high dropkick for a nearfall. Flair fired back with a chop to the chest before Mikey cut him off.

The Finish:

Ross asked whether Vince had left the medical facility yet. Squad members then tried to run into the ring, but Flair tossed Kenny over the top rope into the Squadsters on the outside. Flair then covered Mikey and hooked the tights for the win. Kenny stood up and glared at Flair in the ring.

Winner - Ric Flair

In the arena:

DX came out for the three-team gauntlet match. Lawler said the McMahons are watching this somewhere. They're still the focal point of the show. Before doing his intro, Hunter tried to get the Hogan "I can't hear you" crowd response. He told the fans to be quiet then he asked if they were ready. The fans screamed then Hunter and HBK went into the Michael Buffer intro. HBK cut off Hunter when he name dropped Vince. HBK reminded him that he's not here tonight. "Really? Then where is he?" Hunter playfully asked. HBK then introduced a video package on the Unforgiven Hell in a Cell match. Hunter said that's too bad then said he no idea was Vince loved Chinese food because he just ate the biggest plate of poo-poo platter. Hunter paused then transitioned into the intro.

Gauntlet Match
Referee: Marty Rabulcaba
D-Generation X vs. The Highlanders

The Highlanders came out as the first team to face DX. They shook hands then placed their coats on DX's shoulders. Hunter led them in a group handshake. The bell rang then Hunter led Robbie to the corner and told him about the turnbuckle pad. Meanwhile, HBK dropped Rory with the Sweet Chin Music for the pin and the pin. Robbie wasn't sure what happened. Hunter gave him the Pedigree.

Enter Haas and Viscera...

Viscera and Charlie Haas came to the ring as the second team. HBK worked on Haas in a neutral corner early on. Haas then thumbed him in the eye and tagged out to Viscera. He caught him off the ropes with a swinging sidewalk slam. Ross provided too many visuals about Viscera dominating men in prison. He posed the question of whether DX would survive after the break. Haas worked on HBK's back out of the break. Haas tried to hold down HBK for a big splash, but HBK slipped out and Viscera squashed Haas. Hunter then took the hot tag and knocked the spit out of Viscera's mouth. He hit a facebuster and Viscera did the tree wobbling in the woods. DX then teamed up for a double team clothesline to knock over Viscera. Haas took a Pedigree then HBK hit Viscera with Sweet Chin Music. Viscera wobbled in the wind then crashed onto Haas. Hunter and HBK sat down on Viscera for the dual three count.

Enter Cade and Murdoch...

Cade and Murdoch came out as the third team in the match. They went to work on HBK and his early on. Four-way brawling broke out on the floor. Murdoch then posted HBK headfirst. They teamed up to slam Hunter into the ring steps. Cade then tried to bring a chair into the ring, but HBK mule kicked him. The referee called for the bell. Hunter then slammed a chair into Cade's head. Hunter sat down in the chair and encouraged the heels to enter the ring.

Winners - No Contest

In the arena:

They showed Toby Keith ringside.

Cryme Tyme:

Cryme Tyme time. White man walked up to the ATM. JTG walked up for some "investment advice." Gaspar then kicked white man in the side of the head. This is how Cryme Tyme trains for intensity. Voice-over man said white boy got laid out. C.T. picked up the ATM cash and clowned on white man. Lawler said he's ready to see Cryme Tyme on Raw. "I'm doing with that, dog," Ross said. Lawler laughed.

Referee: Jack Doan
Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

The start:

Shelton and Hardy locked up. Shelton took Hardy down with a side headlock. They had a brief exchange then Shelton shoved Hardy, who retaliated with a straight right hand to the jaw. Hardy came off the ropes with a flying hair slam then Shelton grabbed Hardy's hair and landed forearm blows to the upper chest. He then rammed Hardy off the apron into the guardrail. Shelton applied a rear neck vice on the mat.

The Finish:

Hardy came back with a two-hand jawbreaker. He went up top, but Shelton jumped on the top turnbuckle to catch Hardy, but Hardy shoved him down and hit the Swanton Bomb. Shelton blocked a three count with his foot on the bottom rope. Hardy went for the Twist of Fate, but Shelton blocked by grabbing the top rope. Shelton smiled then slowly walked over to Hardy. You could see it a mile away with Hardy rolling up the cocky Shelton for the win. Shelton couldn't believe it.

Winner - Jeff Hardy

The Marine:

They aired clips from The Marine. They showed Marines sitting ringside.

Referee: Chad Patton
Randy Orton and Chris Masters vs. Super Crazy and Carlito

Randy Orton walked out for a match. Jerry Lawler plugged Brooke Hogan's new CD coming out. Oh boy. Chris Masters walked out as Orton's tag partner. As if I had a difficult enough time calling the finish of the six-pack match, now the two look-alikes are tag partners. Ross plugged the Cyber Sunday PPV on-sale ticket date.

The start:

Carlito and Masters start off. Carlito hits some chops in the corner. Masters gets a knee to the gut. Carlito gets a dropkick for a one count. Crazy tags in. Crazy hits a dropkick off the second rope. Masters powerbombs Crazy to counter the punches in the corner. Orton tags in. He pounces on Crazy and gets a headlock, really working it and wrenching the neck. Crazy hits a huracanrana.

The Finish:

Masters and Carlito are tagged in. Masters catches a crossbody but Carlito gets out of it. Carlito hits a springboard back elbow on Masters, a Million Dollar Knee Lift on Orton and a flapjack on Masters. Crazy hits a dropkick on Orton, but misses a moonsault. Orton hits a backbreaker. Masters goes for the Masterlock on Carlito. He can't lock it in and Carlito flips over for a backcracker and the win.

Winners - Carlito and Super Crazy

The Aftermath:

Orton hits the ring after the match and nails Carlito with an RKO. Commercial.

In the arena:

Coach was in the ring. He introduced Eric Bischoff. Bischoff strutted out with his book in hand. Lawler reminded us that Vince fired Bischoff on the air last December and put him in a dump truck. He thanked Coach for giving him this time then they embraced. Such warmth in the ring. Bischoff said that before Vince unceremoniously fired him back in December, he signed a book deal with WWE. He said the book is finished and the title is "Controversy creates cash." He said he tells the truth about his career in his book. Bischoff said a lot of things are going to piss off Vince. He said he will tell the truth about this very show and how it wouldn't exist in its current form without him, WCW, and Monday (there's no Night!) Nitro. He said there would be no DX if there were no NWO. Hm...a touch of foreshadowing, possibly for a single brand PPV such as Cyber Sunday, which will need a novelty big feud match. Bischoff said he tells the truth about McMahon and there would be no Mr. McMahon if it weren't for himself. Coach's music came over the loudspeaker, cutting off Bischoff. Coach nervously told Bischoff he was done with the speech. Lita's music then hit. Edge and Lita walked out. Edge was holding a rope for Cena.

No Holds Barred Match
Referee: Michael Chioda
Lita vs. John Cena (c)

It is Cena's right hand being tied behind his back. Lita pokes Cena in the eye and hits a low blow. She slaps Cena. He blocks another slap and hits a one armed FU.

Winner, the WWE Champion, John Cena

The Aftermath:

Afterwards, Finlay, Regal, and King Booker hit the ring. They attacked Cena, who still had one hand tied behind his back. Booker, wearing his robe, oversaw the proceedings. Edge had a good laugh as the King's Court worked over Cena. Booker took the mic and asked Cena if he really thought he could show up on his show and show him up. He said it's time for Cena to be humbled tonight. He's not going to pull an Iron Sheik on him, is he? Booker directed traffic as Finlay drove a shillelagh to Cena's stomach. Sharmell smiled and applauded from the outside. Oh, by the way, there's no heat on this. Finlay choked Cena with the shillelagh after Booker took off his boot. Finlay and Regal drove Cena's face into Booker's exposed foot. Edge had a good laugh on the outside. Booker did a giant ballerina twirling dance that Randy Orton is probably complaining about to someone backstage about gimmick infringement. The heels left then Edge entered the ring and said it looks like John just got his ass kicked. He said Cena's going to get his ass kicked on Smackdown on Friday. Edge said he's going to invoke his re-match clause next week on Raw in a steel cage match. Cena clutched his arm as Edge left the ring then laughed.
