Earlier today the United Wrestling Alliance joined Marines The Few The Proud in Long Island NY to raise money for US Marine Corporal Hector Delgado who suffered very serious injuries while fighting in Iraq. ALL proceeds today went towards Corporal Delgado, who is battling another enemy right now, his injuries.

For the last few days, we contacted every media outlet in the area, as well as people in and around the business to alert them of the fundraiser.

Several personalities made donations who could not appear in person. However one person did show up, and in a way which has become associated with him, and that is former WWE/WWF, WCW, ECW wrestler Mick Foley.

No announcement. No press releases hyping his appearance. No advance notice. If you have been following Mick Foley and his appearances with several troops over recent months, he does it quietly.

Only finding out about the fundraiser Friday, he showed up with his family and stood for a few hours. He shook hands with everyone and paid tribute to Corporal Delgado. He then took out a stack of photos from his vehicle. And in a very generous offer, not only did he donate every dollar raised from the signed photos, but he presented Corporal Delgado with a check.

Since the event only happened a few hours ago, we will have results up shortly. I wanted to personally thank Mick Foley for his generosity. I also wanted to thank the UWA staff, the wrestlers and valets, GCW, Metro Diner, Danny Doring & Roadkill, Ramp Motors, US Marines, Marine The Few The Proud, everyone that showed today, and the ones that couldn't but contributed in other ways.

The fundraiser was a huge sucess. It spanned well over 1/4 mile along Jericho Tpke, with different forms of entertainment and different stops. You had wrestling at Metro Diner, musical entertainment at another location, a bike run, and appearances by different personalities. Even with the rain off and on all day, close to 700 people showed up between everything going on. The wrestling event had about 150 people at any given time, with many people walking back and forth from the different ongoings.

I am sure a formal press release will be issued by Marines The Few The Proud, as well as UWA. If you live in the Long Island area, Channel 12 aired a very nice piece on all the events that transpired.

And remember, just because the event is over today, the fundraiser is not. We are still accepting donations, which every penny goes to Corporal Delgado. Fans and visitors of 3e6r.net and the hotline have sent via mail and paypal hundreds of dollars already, and we such a tiny part of this huge cause. And as long as 3e6r.net stays around, we will always keep a section on the site for Corporal Delgado and will be adding different links for ways everyone can contribute to our armed forces all around the world.

Sorry if I bored anyone with such a long release. But the cause hit home here for me and was very special. The UWA joined Marines The Few The Proud to provide entertainment for everyone already attending. It also allowed wrestling fans to come down and show support for this worthy cause. But you didn't have to be a wrestling fan, a biker, a marine, etc to appreciate what was going on. Today, everyone ultimately were simply Americans paying tribute to a hero.
